The CREATE CAMPAIGN and MANAGE CAMPAIGN Menus

The CREATE CAMPAIGN menu is where you go to prepare a new campaign or redefine an existing campaign.  Clicking on the Create Campaign menu opens the Displayed Fields screen including the Extra Fields, Categories, and Products fields.  Once you have created a campaign, you have the option of Send Email, Save Campaign, or Schedule Campaign.

Clicking on the Redefine Campaign will return you to the same screen that is opened when you click on CREATE CAMPAIGN.  That is because you are redefining the subscribers in the campaign.

To create a campaign, you must enter a valid Campaign Name and a Subject.  It is important to have a naming convention for Campaign Names and for Subjects.  The VeM allows you to sort on titles, so there is great  benefit in proper naming so that information can easily be retrieved.

If you Save Campaign, then you must use the List Campaign to go back and retrieve the campaign.  Click on the campaign name to reopen it.

The MANAGE CAMPAIGN menu has 2 clickable sub-menus.  They are the List Campaign and Add Campaign.

The ADD CAMPAIGN and LIST CAMPAIGN Menus

The ADD CAMPAIGN menu does the same thing as the CREATE CAMPAIGN menu.  To add a campaign, you first have to create one.

The LIST CAMPAIGN menu opens a screen as shown below.  A nice feature of the VeM is that clicking on any of the blue titles with the light blue background sorts the list.  Clicking on the same title will sort the list in reverse order.  So if the list was ordered initially in ascending order, the second click would sort the list in descending order.  This is a very useful feature when many campaigns are stored in the VeM.

The column titles and functions are as follows:

  • Campaign Name:  An internal reference for your records.  This is not sent out with the email.
  • Subject:  This is what will be displayed in the email recipient's subject line.  To increase open rates, make this clear and directly related to your content.  Otherwise, you may be accused of Spam.
  • Campaign Types:  This will be one of the 4 types, i.e. HTML, Text, HTML and Text, or SMS
  • Status:  This column indicates whether the campaign has been Saved, Sent, Sending in groups of 1000, or Scheduled to be Sent.
  • Schedule Date:  The date when you want the campaign to be sent.
  • Sent Date:  The actual date the campaign was sent.

Scheduling Our Campaign

To schedule a campaign to be sent, click on Schedule Campaign from the Site Content Editor during creation of the campaign.  The campaign will be sent on that date subject to server access time.  If 1000's of emails are being sent, they will be sent batches with a pause between batches.

Sorting Subscribers

Just like in the List Campaigns menu above, subscriber lists may be sorted by clicking on the title of the subscriber list.  Clicking on the First Name in the illustration below would sort the subscriber list alphabetically by First Name.  Similarly, clicking on the Email Address would sort the list by email address alphabetically.

About Invalid Emails

The VeM tracks bounce backs from email campaigns due to wrong or invalid email addresses.  You can eliminate some of the bounce backs by correcting wrong addresses.  Go to Invalid Emails menu to access the list and to make corrections.  To edit any address, click on the Magnifying Glass Icon of that address.
